During this conflict, American soldiers were held captive by North Vietnamese forces at Son Tay prison. In an audacious rescue attempt, Colonel Arthur “Bull” Simons led a raid on the prison. Although they found it empty due to a recent evacuation, the raid's news reached the prisoners, filling them with hope and the will to persevere, knowing their comrades were fighting for their liberation.
