During this conflict, American soldiers were held captive by North Vietnamese forces at Son Tay prison. In a daring rescue attempt, Colonel Arthur “Bull” Simons led a raid on the prison. Although it was found empty from a recent evacuation, news of the attempted rescue mission reached the prisoners, filling them with hope and the will to persevere, knowing their comrades were fighting for their liberation.
