TOGETHER WE STAND

The Constitutional Convention of 1787 represents a pivotal moment in American history, marking the birth of our constitutional republic. This event laid the foundation for a nation built upon the principles of liberty from political restraint, freedom, and the rule of law.

The Remarkable Exchange

As the Convention concluded, a memorable exchange captured the spirit and challenge of the new nation. It is said that a young woman approached Benjamin Franklin as he exited Independence Hall. She inquired, "Dr., what have we got? A Republic or a Monarchy?" Franklin replied, "My dear lady, a Republic; if you can keep it."

This brief conversation underscores the responsibility bestowed upon the citizens of the newly formed United States. The founders did not simply provide a system of government; they entrusted the people with the duty to preserve and protect it.

Guarding Against Corruption

Thomas Jefferson, one of the most influential figures in American history, famously stated, "The time to guard against corruption and tyranny is before they shall have gotten hold of us." This prescient warning highlights the need for eternal vigilance. We must remain aware and proactive in safeguarding our freedoms against any threat, whether from within or outside our borders.
